I’ve been on a hot streak with my reading list lately. Sometimes you just end up with new books that don’t quite resonate with you, for whatever reason they don’t hit, start to feel like homework… well, it’s been the diametric opposite these past couple months! Feeling fortunate and wanted to share the selection (which is all over the place, as usual).
Shadow Ticket by Thomas Pynchon
Elusive, hilarious noir spun in a whole new way. It’s Pynchon.
The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler
Okay not like this is some great find. I’d just never read it before! It’s the Pater Familias of it all, truly. Holds up in every way.
Woo Woo by Ella Baxter
A delightful fever dream about surviving the artistic process. Also, nail-gun sharp satire.
Hell or High Winter by Andrew Rubin
Okay I haven’t started this one yet but I’m about to… it’s just published, by my good friend Andrew Rubin. He’s an amazing screenwriter and now, novelist! It’s high concept, mythological fun and I’m eager to dive in.
